Manic Monday ~ Health & Fitness Gifting Ideas
It's about to be crunch time if you haven't already bought or made gifts for your Christmas celebration. And in fact, many of us wait to shop up until the very last week or day before Christmas. I believe that in some cases that method results in choosing gifts that may not be the likings of the recipient! Ask my husband about that! (: Seriously though, gifting should be from the heart and thought out so that the gift isn't a waste of your time and money. In this season, I try to shift the reason behind my gifting into a labor of love. I say that because I want my gifts to bless others just as the gift of Jesus brought into this world is the ultimate blessing for mankind! My gifts are of no comparison, but at least my gifts are well thought out so that the recipient feels blessed. With that being said, I wrote about the gift of health last week. If you missed it, scroll back and read it! This week, I want to supplement that post with some additional gifting ideas!
The following are taken from many other resources and are ideas based upon the 2017 trends:
MINIMALIST FITNESS TRACKER
If BMI is out, body composition is in. And the TomTom Touch measures it (as well as heart rate, steps, and sleep stats). It’s also thinner and sleeker than other models.
THE RUNNING SHOE MADE FOR HER
Altra Torin 2.5
Altra is known for its foot-shaped toe box and zero-drop design—which increase stability and allow the foot to move more naturally. What most people don’t know is that unlike many running shoe brands, Altra models its women’s shoes specifically for women’s feet, rather than simply “shrinking and pinking” men’s models.
THE ELEGANT TRACKER
Count Me Healthy Original Journal Bracelet
This silver-plated bracelet gives her the most subtle way to keep tabs on daily goals like glasses of water or servings of vegetables: By sliding the beads from one side to the other.
THAT’LL LET YOU WIN
invisibobble hair rings
These invisibobble hair ties hold up through tough workouts, leave her hair kink-free, and can double as bracelets.
THE ULTIMATE RUNNING PARTNER
Garmin Forerunner 735XT
The 735XT is worth the splurge: It’ll dial her in whether she’s running, swimming, or biking with stats like ground contact time, stride length, and lactate threshold. OK, maybe you need one, to
HER NEW BEST BUDS
Jabra Elite Sport
These sweat-proof, waterproof, wireless buds with an in-ear heart-rate monitor and an app that measures VO2 max might be the most high-tech items she’ll ever stick in her ears. Oh, and the sound quality is really, really good, too.
PULLOVER SHE’LL LIVE IN
New Balance M4M Seamless Cable Pullover
New Balance’s heat technology is the real deal, and wine is an on-trend color this season.
THE ‘HOW DID NOBODY THINK OF THIS?’ PANTS
Athleta Dot Be Free Tight
If every girl’s going-out dream is a dress with pockets, her fitness wish list includes the same for yoga pants. Enter: These lightweight Athleta leggings that, yep, have pockets.
REEBOK J.J. WATT 2 TRAINER
One of the finest all-around training shoes you’ll find, Reebok’s second go-round with the J.J. sneaker is equally good for running, jumping, and weight training. Not sure what your gym pal really does in the gym? You can’t go wrong getting him these.
TRIGGERPOINT GRID VIBE
A foam roller so small that it almost fits in a backpack. And the best part: Hit one button and the device vibrates at 33 Hz, a frequency that can help relax your muscles. Triggerpoint’s entry into the vibrating sports recovery tool market was intelligent in every way, right down to the micro-USB charging port that won’t be a headache for any traveler with a laptop.
Gym shorts were all the same until Birddogs came along. Beyond their unique design—they come in colors ranging from khaki to neon pink—they’re super comfortable, the liner doesn’t ride up, and the pockets are perfectly placed.
AMERICAN GIANT CLASSIC PULLOVER
Nothing compares with the comfort and feel of training on a cool morning in an old-school, warm cotton hoodie (just ask Rocky Balboa). This hoodie’s cotton is soft, heavy, and built to last a lifetime.
Grip tends to be the ku factor in lifts like farmer’s walks and deadlifts. These grip-widening clips attach to it up to six). The robust stainless-steel construction is engineered to take a serious beating.
One of the keys to putting on muscle is getting enough protein and calories. The easiest way to do that: a daily super shake. All blenders blend, but this one is specifically suited for shakes, so you’ll spend less time scraping caked protein powder off the sides. It’s also a cinch to clean up afterward—just detach the cup and go.
